It was really nice seeing the updated pictures of Nicanor and Lentenor. God takes but then God gives at least twice back.Even if the next foal is a filly, she could be God's replacement for Ruffian or Eight Belles. As long as they stay healthy and safe.

God Bless the Jackson's for their love and care of Barbaro. Most owners would simply have put the horse down and be done with it. I wish them and Barbaro's brothers good health and God speed.

We all hope for another champion thoroughbred like Barbaro much in the same way that Man O'War and Secretariat had mesmerized the Country. Now our hopes and dreams hinge on two (and soon to be three) siblings of Barbaro. I heard of people winning the lottery twice in their lifetime. It's possible to happen with thoroughbreds too. I want Mr. & Mrs. Jackson, Michael Matz and Peter Brette all to experience the euphoria of having an undefeated champion thoroughbred without any sad endings. I pray for it, because I truly believe "all things are possible with God".

When Lentenor was born, I remember
Barbaro's jockey saying if you believe in reincarnation this is it or something like that and I

I want to thank Ken Desmoreaux for doing the right thing and pulling up Big Brown in the Belmont. Obviously he cares deeply for this beautiful horse. I just hope that Dutrow does right by Big Brown now and retires him and lets him enjoy his life! He deserves to! I knew he would glue his hoof, I just hope and pray that an infection won't develop underneath there. The right thing would have been to scartch Big Brown, but Dutrow cares more about his macho attitude and the money than the welfare of the horse, that is clear from the suspensions he's had for doping over the years. Big Brown, you have nothing to be ashamed of! You are a handsome, awesome champion, but I confewss, Barbaro will always be #1 in my heart!

WELL, No Triple Crown winner, but they are all safe and accounted for so far....Maybe fate, God and the Angels are holding that spot for Nicky in 2009, stay healthy sweet boy, learn your leads and run like the wind, we all will be waiting and watching for you come February for the start of your 3 year old campaign, you are always in our hearts, always in our prayers xoxoxox

I rewatched the story of Barbaro again and I can't tell you how much he is missed..On the eve of the Belmont Stakes you only think of what may have occured if the beautiful Barbaro never was injured..The Jacksons and Michael Matz have the BIGGEST HEARTS I have ever known..They did what was best for Barbaro and I will never forget that..I would never run Big Brown with the hoof problem he has. I just hope Mr.Dutrow knowes what he is doing..We don't need anymore tragedies in horse racing

I have just finished watching the HBO special on Barbaro again. The Jackson's were so incredibly strong. I would have been a basket case. What a beautiful, beautiful animal he was. The pictures of his brothers are great, I'm sure they will also capture our hearts.
I have 6 horses, no racers, but I am crazy about them all. I can't imagine having to part with one of them.
Keep up the good work!

I REALLY hope that Nicanor and Lentenor are as good as Barbaro. I feel terrible about what happened to him. Its sad because, I have Books, a DVD, stuffed animals, EVERYTHING and I know that none of it is going to be the real Barbaro. More than I hope Nicanor and Lentenor are good racers, I hope that they dont get hurt, because after the Barbaro tragedy and then the Eight Belles tragedy a few weeks ago, we dont want or need to see anymore beautiful horses lose their lives!!! I hope Barbaro's legacy lives on in his siblings!!!! I LOVE BARBARO!!!!

Anyone who misses Bryant Gumbel's Real Sport on HBO needs to see it, subject=horse slaughter ...sigh....I actually threw up after seeing it, I forced myself to watch it as I felt it was my duty to witness it...sigh... I start this month volenteering at a mustang rescue here in Maine, we all should step up to the plate and do what we can to save these magnificent animals, each state has horse rescue sites that are always looking for help, google it to see where in your stare you can be of use. Thank You

Yes, me too. Barbaro definitely would have been the next Triple Crown Champion - that's what makes his injury doubly wrong! And not to take anything away from Big Brown but I think justice will be served if Nicanor came up next year and went all the way and won the Triple Crown (for Barbaro) before anyone else can. I'm pulling for Big Brown but I'm torn....I really want Nicanor to win the Triple crown, not someone else. I picked Big Brown in the beginning because he reminded me so much of Barbaro - his looks, his gallop, the way ne runs out way ahead down the stretch, everything. I looked up both their pedigrees and - duh - they are the same horse! No wonder I felt a connection to him. They have the same Grandfathers, great gradfathers, grandmothers, etc - they're almost the same horse. But I still want Nicanor or another one of Barbaro's brothers to win it all - it will be the final triump for the Jacksons, Michael Matz, (Edgar Prado, I hope) and BARBARO!!

To all the great horses who we've loved and lost: Eight Belles, Ruffian, Phar Lap, Go For Wand, Pine Island, Barbaro and the list goes on - this is a little prayer just for you (and us):
“IF YOU BURY HIM IN THIS SPOT, THE SECRET OF WHICH YOU MUST ALREADY HAVE, HE WILL COME TO YOU WHEN YOU CALL – COME TO YOU OVER THE FAR, DIM PASTURES OF DEATH, AND DOWN THE REMEMBERED PATHS TO YOUR SIDE AGAIN. AND THOUGH YOU RIDE OTHER LIVING HORSES THROUGH LIFE, THEY SHALL NOT SHY AT HIM OR RESENT HIM COMING. FOR HE IS YOURS AND HE BELONGS THERE.
PEOPLE MAY SCOFF AT YOU, WHO SEE NO LIGHTEST BLADE OF GRASS BENT BY HIS FOOTFALL, WHO HEAR NO NICKER PITCHED TOO FINE FOR INSENSITIVE EARS. PEOPLE WHO MAY NEVER REALLY LOVE A HORSE. SMILE AT THEM THEN, FOR YOU SHALL KNOW SOMETHING THAT IS HIDDEN FROM THEM, AND WHICH IS WELL WORTH KNOWING.
THE ONE PLACE TO BURY A HORSE IS IN YOUR HEART."

It's hard to read these postings without getting a lump in my throat. To imagine Barbaro waiting at Heaven's gates for Eight Belles is beautiful and bittersweet. In Response to Susan's last entry, I also think that the "The Triple Crown" should not be 3 races so very close together on such young horses, They need to make these races 4 weeks apart and raise the age to 4 year olds as well as safer surfaces for them to race on, sometimes there are no answers for accidents that is why they are called "accidents" but we need to make some changes especially at the "lower end" of racing where the horses are not treated as well as the Jackson's treat thiers, where Kentucky Derby champions end up in Japan at the slaughterhouse and so many who are unknown are slaughtered, it is a crying shame and the only voices heard Loud and Clear are those of the Owners and Trainers of well known horses. Old Friends Racehorse Rescue is a good site to educate on the practices that go on, Breaks my heart and sometimes my soul. We need to stand up as a whole and try to do something, yet the only thing I can do is donate my money to these good causes and pray that the "Owners" can make a difference like The Jacksons who have done so much against the poor treatment of Horses, that is why I admire them, that is why we should all admire them and help anyway we can.....sigh... it is so sad sometimes...sigh...

5/3/2008
My heart broke again watching the Derby today when the beautiful filly Eight Belles had to be euthanized right there on the track. How on earth did this gorgeous horse manage to come in second with 2 broken ankles? How did she even manage to cross the finish line? Something MUST be done about lessening the dangers of horse racing. Would it be better if all races were run on grass? If so, then let's do it! These beautiful horses deserve better than this. I worry now for Nicanor and Lentenor. Michael Matz had another horse go down with a similar inhjury to Barbaro's today in one of the pre-races. The horse has a 50-50 chance of surviving. I will not watch horse racing anymore until it is made safer for our beloved horses! I cannot bear it!
Every time these beautiful animals race, they are risking their lives, no WE are risking their lives. And it's all for money. Now I have no doubt that the Jacksons truly love their horses. What they did for Barbaro was so loving and so NOT about the money, for they knew he would never race again and probably could not even breed. But they are exceptional people and their animals come first. I doubt the majority of owners are like them.
Well, Barbaro, you have a new friend to play with in heaven. She's quite a looker too! God sent you a filly today Barbaro! Take care of her and have fun! I pray that the human race will find a way to make this "sport" safer so there will be no more horrible accidents and deaths on the racetracks.

The boys look great! It's so hard to believe that they are growing up so fast. Is La Ville Rouge rebred to Dynaformer for a 2008 foal?

I am priveliged to pass comment in such a prestigous guestbook. Barbaro touched hearts worldwide, and this message from across the pond carries great excitement, for I dream to visit America one day. And it would be something special if I were to see one of Barbaro's brothers run in a triple crown race. Barbaro we love you.

Lentenor is GORGEOUS..he has that far away look in his eye that only great race horses have...little Nicanor is good looking also, but if my uncanny intuition abilities hold true, Lentenor may follow in his older brother's tracks...

There will never be another Barbaro! He was one of a kind, the Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky, & Michael Jordan of Horse Racing! I only wish the best success and health for his handsome brother's, they have HUGE hoofprints to fill. I feel a little sadness for them, because as his siblings, whatever they do or don't accomplish, they will always be compared to their in comparable brother ...RIP Barbaro, you are missed much, but never forgotten!

My birthday is also 3/15. Happy birthday. I just rescued an very thin but sweet and handsome bay TB yearling. He reminds me of Barbaro and i miss him dearly ( still get tears in my eyes ) . As a tribute to him and since my little guy looks like the 2007 colt ( almost to a tee ) I am naming him ( not registered of course ) Lentenor since they are the same age and i can remember how special these guys are everytime i am with him. Looking forward to the brothers careers in the future. Much nuzzle love.

Eli Manning
Gives me Hope
He walked onto
The football field
On Super Bowl Sunday
With the Burdon of Proof
Upon his young shoulders
A lifetime of pressure
Living with a family legacy
A football family
To live up to
This was not a just a game
To win
For the Title
But the game
To Prove
He was no longer
The kid brother
He walked onto
The field a brother and a son
And walked off
His own man
Eli Manning
Gives me Hope
Yes
Sometimes
Lightning
Does
Strike
Twice
Nicanor and Lentenor
You could
BE
The next
ELI
RUN
as Fast
As you can
For Barbaro
But most
Of all
For
Yourself
