Lael Stables, DIVINING ROD wins at Keeneland

April 13, 2015

Our friends/clients, Roy & Gretchen Jackson (Lael Stable) won the Coolmore Lexington S. with their 3yr old Tapit colt, DIVINING ROD out of MG1SW mare Precious Kitten.  Nicoma Bloodstock purchased the mare privately on behalf of the Jackson's.

A few days shy of eight years ago, Lael Stables Showing Up (Strategic Mission) arrived in Lexington
undefeated in two prior starts and booked a ticket to the GI Kentucky Derby [finished sixth to stablemate
Barbaro] with a popular victory in the Coolmore Lexington S., then a Grade II. The Jacksons Divining
Rod showed up Saturday with a touch more experience and a couple of losses on his resume, but the result
was the same, as the homebred son of multiple Grade I winning turfer Precious Kitten ran out an impressive
winner of the final Kentucky prep, though his status for the Run for the Roses remains in limbo, according to
trainer Arnaud Delacour.  Today he was very professional and I'm glad he's learning with each start.

Also, on Saturday at Keeneland, the Jackson's AGELESS place 2nd in the:
GIANT'S CAUSEWAY S., $100,000, KEE, 4-11, 4yo/up, f/m, 5 1/2fT, 1:02 3/5, gd.

Overlooked in the wagering behind heavily favored Free as a Bird (Hard Spun) and Ageless, Katie’s Eyes broke alertly and tracked the pace from the outside through a half-mile in :45.09. Asked to quicken turning for home, the filly collared pace-setting longshot Fioretti(Bernardini) in midstretch and drew off to a comfortable score. Ageless rallied from far back to secure the place honors.
