Sent off the even-money favorite in a field of seven for Saturday’s GII Demoiselle S., the first of four added-money
events on the card, Alpha Delta Stables’ Lewis Bay proved easily best to provide trainer Chad Brown with his first winner of the race.  Lewis Bay enjoyed the run of the race from within easy striking distance before being deftly maneuvered out around horses and into the five path for a clear shot leaving the three-eighths pole.  "Turning for home I sent her out and she really went fast,” the winning jockey commented. “When she got the lead she was a little green; I think she was waiting for company. She went out a few paths because she changed leads a little early but I felt I had a lot of horse, so I felt comfortable taking her wide.”

SMART SHOPPING (f, 2, Smart Strike--Shop Again {SW, $122,274}, by Wild Again), well-supported at 9-2 off a 10-1
morning-line quote in this career bow, skimmed the rail in a close fourth through opening splits of :23.09 and :46.86. Slipping through a seam in early stretch, the homebred squeezed inside of Dear Elaine (Broken Vow) in the final furlong and skipped clear to win by a length. Smart Shopping is a half-sister to Power Broker (Pulpit), GISW, $865,612; and Fierce Boots (Tiznow), SW, $103,147. Her SW dam Shop Again is a half-sister to GISW Miss Shop (Deputy Minister)--who produced this term’s GIII Miss Grillo S. victress Tin Type Gal (Tapit)--and GSW & MGISP sire Trappe Shot (Tapit). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $33,000.
