Sweeping to the front with about a furlong and a half to run, Long Haul Bay escended upon longshot leader Even Thunder with an eighth of a mile to race and proved a much-the-best winner. "Mid-stretch, it looked pretty good, "Chad Brown assistant trainer Whit Beckman said. " I was pretty confident how he was going to finish."
The dam French Satin, heroine of the 2002 GIII Florida Oaks at Tampa, brought $400,000 from Reynolds Bell Thoroughbred Services on behalf of Jon Clay's Alpha Delta Stables while in foal to Hard Spun at the 2008 KEENOV sale. Long Haul Bay is the 10th graded stakes winner for Lane's End's Quality Road.
