Pomology, who went untried as a juvenile, was unbeaten through a curtailed sophomore campaign,
stepping up from a June maiden win at Windsor to add a handicap score at Kempton the following month. She
closed last term with victory in the Aug. 11 G3 Prix Minerve at Deauville and was the fifth betting choice
off the 11-month absence. Settled a joint third behind the clear leader, Pomology made smooth headway in
the long straight to challenge with 1 1/2 furlongs remaining, and was driven out to assert for a career
high from stablemate Sultanina. Last term's G1 Epsom Oaks victress Talent stayed on well from the rear to
finish third. "She hadn't been working particularly well, but when they get on the track it's different
sometimes," explained winning trainer John Gosden. "I think she found the [good-to-soft] ground a little too
sticky and they were laboring a bit in it towards the end. She's a nice filly.
