Matthew Schera's Race Day stamped himself as a force to be dealt with in the East Coast handicap
division with an authoritative score in Saturday's GII Oaklawn H. Race Day won the GIII Razorback H. Mar. 14, notched his third win in four starts for Schera and trainer Todd Pletcher. Tabbed as the clear favorite to make it two in a row, Race Day broke alertly from the inside post and dueled with Carve along the rail through fractions of :23.18 and :46.71. Gaining a half-length advantage from that rival on the far turn, he dug in to maintain the margin approaching the head of the stretch. The grey shook clear in midstretch and drew off under moderate encouragement from Hall of Fame pilot John Velazquez. Carve held on stubbornly to secure place honors, while Tapiture rallied late to check in third.
