While not on our cherished breeders’ list of "30 Grade 1 winners since 2000", few have made a greater contribution to the life of Mill Ridge Farm than Rich Santulli. Reynolds and Rich grew a wonderful friendship early on as he grew his breeding business. Always open to opportunities, Rich was a key partner as Reynolds negotiated with Jimmy Mills on the purchase of Gone West. As history shows, this relationship proved fruitful with Gone West becoming a “breed changing stallion” and in company with Diesis helped in establishing Mill Ridge as a significant farm on an international scale. As a commercial breeder, Rich’s Colt’s Neck Stable has an abundance of well bred horses performing at the sales and on the track. In 2012, Casino Host performed at the highest level winning a G2 and G1 placed earning nearly $450,000. It would not be a surprise if Colt’s Neck Stable is the next to join the elite group of G1 winners raised or sold from Mill Ridge.
