Heavily touted by his trainer, Bob Baffert, when Del Mar opened in 2012, as one of his best two-year-olds; it took four starts for POWER BROKER to break through and achieve what his hall of fame conditioner knew all along.  POWER BROKER ran green his first two tries against maiden special company at Del Mar, but showed enough that Bob entered him in the Del Mar Oak Tree Juvenile stakes, on turf while still a maiden.  Although he didn’t win he fought hard and was just beaten a neck.  Having great confidence in him, Baffert next started him in the G1 Frontrunner at Santa Anita and he broke his maiden in superior fashion scampering home to win by 6 1/2 lengths … it takes a special horse to make it to the winner’s circle of a Grade 1 while also breaking his maiden!
