It would be difficult to identify anyone more passionate for the horse and racing than Samantha Siegel. In fact, it has always been a family affair with her mother Jan, her father Mace, and Samantha racing under the JAYEMESS Stable (letters from their first names). Jan and Mace met on a blind date at Aqueduct Racetrack in 1962 and married two months later. They purchased their first horse in 1964 at the Timonium Yearling Sale and named her Najecam (Mace and Jan backwards). The Siegel family was kind enough to entrust two of their outstanding race fillies, multiple G1 winning Urbane and multiple G1 winning I Ain’t Bluffing to Mill Ridge. Samantha considers Alice Chandler one of her favorite people and always regarded her accomplishments in the Thoroughbred business. Urbane went on to produce G2 winning, G1 placed earner of $1.35 million Suave while I Ain't Bluffing produced G2 winning, G1 placed earner of over $250,000 Acting Happy. It is always a pleasure when Samantha visits Mill Ridge as she comes toting carrots for her girls, and particularly Urbane.
