We are a full-service thoroughbred horse farm in the heart of the Bluegrass Region, minutes from the Bluegrass Airport and Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, Kentucky. We invite you to share in the history, experience a glimpse of the thoroughbred industry, and interact with our horses.

Mill Ridge Farm Tour
Our standard Mill Ridge Farm tour is available twice per day, most days of the week. This is best for guests who are looking for a relaxed setting with up-close-and-personal experiences with horses. Guests will also learn more about the farm’s history, the thoroughbred business, and enjoy breathtaking views of the land.
HOW LONG? 1.5 hour-long public tour.

PLEASE NOTE: This tour requires guests to arrive and drive in their own vehicles. No Motorcycles or Rideshare options, i.e. Uber, Lyft or Public Taxi Services.
WHAT YOU'LL SEE: Get up close with Mares & Foals + Yearlings + three Stallions with plenty of photo ops. You may get hands-on, too!
BEST FOR: All Ages + Kid-Friendly, curious, casual, and committed fans welcome.
PRICE: Individual 12 years old and up: $30; Children under 12: $15.
ON THE TOUR: You will be walking & standing throughout the tour. You'll have a break as you caravan in your car or bus, following our guides to multiple stops throughout the farm.
The tour kicks off in the breeding shed where you will gain an understanding of why this land is uniquely suited for the Thoroughbred. You will learn the history of the Headley family, who has owned and operated this land and farm for 6 generations.
You will then hop in your vehicles and follow the tour guide around the farm via caravan. You will stop at multiple locations around the farm to interact with horses of varying ages. You’ll be able to get up close and personal with friendly equine residents, and even feed them carrots! The tour ends back in the breeding shed with our resident stallions and gift shop.
PREPARE: We will be outdoors during the tour, rain or shine! Be sure to wear appropriate shoes and comfortable clothing that suits all weather!
Custom or Owner-Led Tour
This private tour is available most days at 3:00 pm. Book your group with your own private guide to show you around the farm and get up close and personal with our horses. This is best for guests who want individualized time and attention with our horses in a smaller group setting. Guests will be able to ask questions, learn more about the thoroughbred business, and enjoy breathtaking views of the land.
HOW LONG? 1.5 hour-long private tour.

If you’re looking to create a truly customized, unique experience, book one of our customized or owner-led experiences. We will work with you to create exactly what you have in mind. That may be a catered brunch before Keeneland on our office patio (seats 35), followed by a farm tour. Or if pressed for time, we can tour your group through the farm and send you on your way with a boxed lunch to-go from one of our local partners.

Motorcoaches, buses, and large groups are welcome at Mill Ridge! We can accommodate large vehicles and groups by allowing you to disembark at locations throughout the farm to get up close and personal with our horses. Or our guides are happy to hop aboard if your group is limited on time or mobility.

Private Mill Ridge Tour
Visit us at Mill Ridge Farm, near iconic Keeneland Racetrack, and experience a farm renowned for raising and selling first class Thoroughbreds. Owner Alice Headley Chandler’s father, Hal Price Headley, was the main force in the founding of Keeneland, and the first President of what is considered one of the greatest racetracks in the world.
After his death in 1962, Alice inherited the land that would become Mill Ridge Farm. Just six years later she became the first woman to breed an Epsom Derby winner in SIR IVOR. Since the year 2000, Mill Ridge has raised and/or sold 41 Grade 1 winners including a Kentucky Derby winner, 9 Breeders’ Cup winners, 3 Horse of the Year Titleholders, and 2024 Preakness winner Seize the Grey.
