When Windsharp, dam of Johar and Dessert, retired to the farm, there may have been high expectations, but no one could count on the success she produced as a mother. Dessert was the second foal from Canadian champion Windsharp (by Lear Fan). While initially racing overseas, Dessert flourished in the California sun and on its turf courses, breaking her maiden and going on to win the Del Mar Oaks (G1) in 2003. As a good older sibling should, she set the bar high for her ½ brother Johar to live up to.
